I confess, I become a basic white girl this time of year.

love pumpkin everything. Cookies, soups, muffins, chili… the list goes on and on. I think at this point Rich is “pumpkined” out (…but like is that really a thing?)

It feels like everyday, I fight the urge to stop by Starbucks to satisfy my itch. Let’s be honest, who can afford the daily trip… let’s not even talk about the calories!

I’ve made a compromise though. Starting in October, I make my favorite PSL syrup. If I close my eyes and take a sip, there is no competition between this recipe and the flavor you get at your favorite chain! I promise you it will change you life. Well, maybe not your life… but your taste buds will do their favorite happy dance! So will your wallet.

Ingredients

I must admit, I never need to peak at this recipe! It’s 1-1-1-1 and 3 tbsp… and I am an Italian cook, I think it’s in my DNA to “dash” and “guesstimate,” rather than measure when I’m cooking. Feel free to add a little more spice, or a dash of vanilla extract! Make this recipe your own.

I do choose to use Organic Sucanat Cane Sugar when making this recipe. This sugar is a more healthy alternative to more refined and processed sugars.

This recipe makes enough syrup for me to have some in my coffee all month long!

  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Organic Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoon Pumpkin Pie Spice

In less than 30 minutes, you will be able to enjoy your homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte! Let’s be honest, the best tasting things come out of your own kitchen!

Directions

Using a small to medium size sauce pan, I combine the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, water, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice. I then place it over medium to low heat and stir thoroughly. Allowing this mixture to come to a slight boil. Then let it simmer on medium heat for 20-30 minutes to thicken.

By this point, your house will smell divine! Let the syrup cool a little. I store mine in a small mason jar and keep it in the refrigerator. Please take note, If you decide to pour hot contents into glass, you run the risk of shattering your container! So please, be careful. Let the syrup cool before transferring.

It will store up to 1 month before spoiling. To be honest, it won’t really last that long in your house. I use this to top muffins, pancakes and waffles, and in my morning cup of joe. It’s my guilty pleasure for sure!
