HOW TO USE YOUR DIY PON
When moving your plant from soil to your new DIY pon, start by carefully removing as much old soil as possible from the roots. Rinse the roots with lukewarm water to get rid of any stubborn dirt—this is important to prevent any root rot from occurring as it adjusts to the new medium.
Next, grab a clean semi-hydroponic or self-watering pot with a water reservoir. Add a layer of your DIY Pon to the bottom, then set your plant on top, spreading out the roots as much as you can. Gently fill in around the roots with more pon, making sure the mix settles between the roots with no big air gaps.
Once your plant is secure in the pot, fill the water reservoir and water the Pon thoroughly. If you’re using a self-watering pot, check the water level indicator and keep it within the recommended range. Pon holds moisture really well, so wait to refill until the reservoir is low. This way, your plant’s roots will always have the right balance of air and water.
HOW TO STORE YOUR DIY PON
Making your own pon mix saves money and lets you know your plants are getting the best care. Healthy roots mean lush, vibrant houseplants.
